Wisemans Ferry Penisula

When you drive over the hill and see the little historic village of Wisemans Ferry before you, you winder how it all began. It is a melange or really old and really new and all typically Australian. The river is the key and flows alongside the buildings and gardens inevitably. It was the conduit for food and construction items in the early days when boast were considered more than efficient as modes of delivery with poor roads the only other option.

Then when you have had your coffee and scones at the local cafe you carry on right at Singleons Mill Road and go along the winding road to the very end…. seemingly the end of the world. Yes, at the end when you are faced with a gate that says ” No Trespasses … private property” and 1551, 1553 scrawled on the fence, you scratch your head in confusion about which is what.

Nevertheless you progress through and come to a remarkable property dotted with dwellings built many years ago that are now used as fisherman cottages, stores and one house built not so long ago but still in keeping with the settlers style to blend in to the topography. Again the river runs alongside the property in beautiful harmony with the land.

Through another gate with a similar message you come to a very large property with green pastures as far as the ye can see… ending at the foot of rock mountains, stark and impassive i  direct contrast to the gentle land.

And there is the river… its current taking leaves and branches down the street towards Wisemans Ferry… but gentle around the little wharf and slipway for small boats.

The home is for a big family and every comfort and utensil for all ages is visible… sleep ins and sleep outs for children and dinghies and furniture complete the pictur. Very comforting! Its surrounded by five sheds for machinery and storage for feed for cattle and chickens. Ducks swim in the dam just outside the garden belonging to the main house.

The walk to the end of the property and to the water surrounding it is a long one but serene and only the rustling of the wind in the poplars to accompany you.

Its finger peninsular into the Hawksbury River called the “Secret River” and it is a secret… how could anyone know about it other than its inhabitants.. so tucked away, beautiful & pristine.

Well it in now coming out of hiding to go to market and those lucky enough to see it will fall in love with it as i have. it can be purchased separately or together as a whole penisular. Kathryn Hall at Kathryn Hall Agency is the Agent.
