How Do I Start Buying A Home?

The statistics indicate that it will take at least 10 to 15 properties before most people can make a buying decision.

In the current buoyant Sydney Real Estate Market buying a home can be scary for the un-initiated.

From our Buyers Agency division at The Kathryn Hall Agency, Sydney we have 5 specific rules that we give our clients in order to help them find the right home or investment property.

1. Know how much you can really afford to spend. This means a budget worked on the worst scenario i.e if the interest rates go up can we still pay off the mortgage?

2. The budget may change. Due primarily to being a “novice” to buying a home, your expectations may not reflect the real marketplace.

3. Identify your lifestyle: Are you a family? Young children? Fitness people? Workaholic? (Yes there are plenty of these around and they are motivated to be near their work environment) Teenage children? (These have different needs to a young family both in dynamics and accommodation needs) What investment return are you expecting?

4. Decide on the area where you want to live. Our Buyers Agents spend a measurable amount of time looking at the demographics and this relates back to your lifestyle.

5. Be prepared to be flexible. Be prepared to consider an area you may not have really considered. We find the concept of “thinking outside the square” extremely valuable and rewarding. Be amenable to a suggestion but remember the “suggestion” needs to be based on information and well researched.

Use a Buyers Agent – a professional could save you thousands of dollars and take the stress away.
